This is a step-by-step setup guide for Microsoft email accounts purchased from Godaddy.
If you've purchased your account from Microsoft directly, read this article.

Purchasing the email subscription and creating the account

Video instruction here:

GoDaddy offers Microsoft 365 email accounts that you can configure for your new Godaddy domain.

Once you complete the purchase, you will need to enter the details for your account.
Username (the new email address), First Name, Last Name and a password.

After this step, you may or may not be asked to confirm the phone number for your account, depending on the Account info you have in your GoDaddy account. The location of the phone number needs to match to the one in your GoDaddy account.

After you hit save, Microsoft will automatically configure the settings for your new email account. SPF and MX will be configured automatically so you don't need to create them manually:

Once completed, you can click on the Webmail launch page, where we go to enable SMTP.

Setting up SMTP, DKIM, DMARC

  1. To Enable SMTP, open the Webmail launch page. Go to Users, click on Manage, scroll down and click on Advanced settings:

  2. Just below the Account Information section, SMTP button will load, you need to click to enable it.

  3. To create DKIM records, go to https://security.microsoft.com/dkimv2 click on the domain you want to configure DKIM records for, and click on "Generate DKIM keys" in the side window.

  4. Copy the two records given by Microsoft and paste them in your GoDaddy DNS zone for your domain.

To create these two records, access dns records for your domain in GoDaddy from https://account.godaddy.com/products by clicking on DNS next to your domain.

  5. Click "Add new record":

  6. Paste the data from Microsoft, to create two CNAME records:

  7. Go back to Microsoft, close the Instructions for DKIM records, wait a few minutes for records to propagate, and then enable DKIM signing for your domain:

Normally it takes around 30 minutes, but it may take up to 4 days for these to update. If you are not able to enable these records even after waiting that long, please contact Microsoft support.

  8. Once enabled, click on "Rotate DKIM keys" in the same window:

  9. Now we will create DMARC record in your GoDaddy DNS zone for this domain.

You can generate your own DMARC with any third-party tool, like Dmarcian or EasyDmarc or you can copy this record with the minimum policy:

    Type:

    TXT

    Name:

    _dmarc

    Value:

    v=DMARC1;p=none;sp=none;pct=100;rua=mailto:[email protected];ruf=mailto:[email protected];ri=86400;aspf=s;adkim=s;fo=1

*For rua and ruf tags in the Value field, replace [email protected] with your email address.

TTL for this record is set to the lowest possible (1h is perfectly fine).

Click to "Add record" and you are done!

You can verify if your records are in place with tools like MXToolbox.

Once you have the records set up, wait for one hour, and connect your account to Instantly.

    1. Click on "Add New"

    2. Select Microsoft

    3. Enter your email account:

    4. Enter the login details and click Sign in:

    5. In case you are not able to see the Login prompt, open Instantly in the Incognito window of your browser and try from there.

Now that your account has been set up, you can enable warmup and create a Custom tracking domain. Learn how to do that here:
