The Global Blocklist is a workspace-wide feature that blocks specific email addresses or domains from being imported or contacted.
When you import leads, Instantly automatically checks them against your blocklist:
Block Entire Domains: mycompetitor.com(enter only the domain name without the "@" symbol)
Block Specific Email Addresses: [email protected]
Blocklist Tab
The blocklist tab is checked both during the upload and across ongoing campaigns.
Leads in the Blocklist tab will not be imported into any campaigns.
Leads in the Blocklist tab will not be contacted, even if they already exist in the campaign within the workspace.
Steps to add leads to the Blocklist Tab:
File format(Download template):
Each row contains one email address or domain
No extra columns needed
Single sheet in the CSV file
Go to the Blocklist tab
Click "+ Import" button
Choose your preferred method:
CSV file
Enter data manually
Google Sheets
Ensure the column with email addresses or domains is selected under Column name
Confirm import. If the file exceeds the 5 MB limit, please split your list into smaller files (each under 5 MB) and upload them separately.
Google Sheets Blocklist
Important: The Google Sheet blocklist is checked only when importing or uploading leads. If you need to block emails to leads already in your active campaigns, use the Blocklist tab.
Steps to prepare your Google sheet:
Create or use sample sheet
Format the sheet:
Column A, Row 1: Enter "Blocked"
Column A, Rows 2+: Enter emails/domains to block
Delete columns B-Z
Set sharing permissions:
Click "Share" button (top right)
Click "Change" below "Get link"
Change to "Anyone with the link as Editor"
Click "Copy link"
Connect to Instantly:
Go to Blocklist → Google Sheets
Paste the Google Sheets link
Click "Set blocklist"
Confirmation:
Instantly will show the number of rows imported
Entries are now saved to your blocklist
Automatic Blocklist: AI Blocklist Triggers
Automatically add leads to your blocklist based on their status or reply content.
Steps to set up AI Blocklist Triggers:
Go to the Blocklist -> AI Blocklist Triggers
Unsubscribed leads: Switch the toggle to automatically add unsubscribed leads to the blocklist
Leads in specific statuses(Available to Hyper Growth and above plans): Automatically add leads in specific statuses to the blocklist
Leads whose replies contain specific phrases(Available to Hyper Growth and above plans): Automatically add leads whose replies contain specific phrases to the blocklist. Use semicolon (;) to separate texts or phrases
Add Leads to Blocklists from Unibox
You can also add leads to the blocklist from Unibox:
Go to Unibox
Open the reply from the lead you wish to block
Click the three dots (...) in the top right corner
Select Add to blocklist. This option will also remove this reply.
Managing Your Blocklist
Domain Search:
Toggle on "Domain Search"
View only blocked domains (not individual emails)
Download CSV:
Select entries using checkboxes
Click "Actions -> Download all or selected"
Export selected emails/domains
View Timestamp:
See when each entry was added
Remove Entries:
Select entries using checkboxes
Click "Actions -> Remove all or selected" icon
Confirm removal
