In this article, we'll explain how we check for duplicate leads during the upload process and the settings we provide.
Essentially, there are two cases we check for duplicates when importing the leads to your campaign. You will receive a prompt "X email(s) already exist" when any duplicate leads are skipped.
Workspace-Level Duplicate Check
During the lead upload process, you'll see duplicate detection option:Check for duplicates across all Campaigns or Lists
When the option is checked (default setting):
Skips leads that exist in other campaigns or lists
You see: "X email(s) already exist" message
Only new, unique leads are added
When the option is unchecked:
Allows duplicate leads across campaigns/lists
The same lead can be added to multiple campaigns/lists
Use with caution: only for intentional multi-campaign strategies
File-Level Duplicate Check
This feature cannot be disabled and always runs automatically. The system scans your file for duplicate emails and uploads only the unique email addresses.
This is to prevent the same lead from being contacted twice in the same campaign.
You can use spreadsheet tools to find duplicates:
In Google Sheets: Select "Email" column → Data → Data cleanup → Remove duplicates
In CSV/Excel: Select "Email" column → Data → Remove Duplicates
