What is the Automated Inbox Placement Test?
It’s a feature that automatically checks if your emails land in the inbox, promotions, or spam folders and gives detailed deliverability insights.
It helps by automating placement tests, providing insights into blacklists, spam triggers, and email health, allowing you to optimize campaigns and improve deliverability while spending less time on manual tasks.

Before running Inbox Placement tests, set the maximum number of inbox placement tests per day in the sending account settings:
Step-by-Step Instructions for Using the Automated Inbox Placement Test
Go to the "Inbox Placement" section in your Instantly dashboard.
Click the “+ Add New” button to start a new test.
Enter a name for your test in the "Test Name" field (e.g., "Dec 9").
Click "Continue" to proceed.
Select the Option 2: Automated Test Type for recurring email tests
Click "Continue" after selecting the type.
Choose the regions and mailboxes you want to test (e.g., North America, Europe, Web.de, etc.) and tick the boxes for specific spam filters to check (e.g., SpamAssassin, Gmail Spam Filter).
Configure Advanced Options:
Accounts to Use: Select the sending accounts.
Campaign to Use: Pick an existing campaign or write a new email copy.
Timing: Set the testing schedule.
Delivery Mode: Choose how emails are sent.
Automations: Add actions based on test results. Some use cases:
pause the sending for a mailbox and just put it into warmup for X amount of days when the inbox placement rate is less than Y%
Automatically pause a mailbox when it is marked as blocklisted to proactively protect sender reputation
Automatically enable or disable slow ramp based on the inbox placement rate results you’re getting (or send a webhook).
Launch the Test.
Results include:
Deliverability Insights - Shows the percentage of emails delivered to the Inbox, Spam and Promotions/Updates folder.
Spam Filter Score - The score should be as low as possible, any score above 5 means that your emails are landing in spam.
Content Insights - will let you know if your email content is considered risky
AI Recommendations - helps you improve the quality of your email copy. It evaluates key elements of your email and offers specific feedback for improvement.
Email Placement - detailed information about deliverability per sending account.
