Learn how to track opens in the campaign

You can track which leads are engaging with your emails to measure campaign effectiveness. Open Rate measures the percentage of leads who opened at least one email in your campaign.

  • Open Rate = (Number of opens / Number of 'Sequences started') Γ— 100%

  • 'Sequences started' only reflects the number of leads who received Step 1 and does not include follow-up emails.


How to Enable Open Tracking

Step 1: Set Up Custom Tracking Domain (Recommended)

Before enabling open tracking, set up a custom tracking domain for better deliverability.

  • Go to the Email Accounts dashboard

  • Click on the email account

  • Navigate to the Settings section in the pop-up window

  • Scroll down to find the Custom Tracking Domain setting

Step 2: Enable Tracking in Your Campaign

  • Open your target campaign

  • Go to the Options section

  • Enable 'Open tracking'

  • Save changes


Why Open Tracking Might Not Work

If your open rate shows 0% or isn't tracking properly, check these conflicting settings:

1. Delivery Optimization

Delivery Optimization improves deliverability by sending text-only email, but removes tracking capability.

  • Send emails as text-only(no HTML)

    • When enabled, this sends all emails as plain text

    • Plain text emails cannot include tracking pixels

    • Result: Opens won't be tracked for all steps

  • Send first email as text-only

    • When enabled, this sends the first email as plain text

    • Plain text emails cannot include tracking pixels

    • Result: Opens won't be tracked for Step 1

To track opens:

  1. Open your campaign

  2. Go to Options section

  3. Find "Delivery Optimization" feature

  4. Disable the two setting if you need open tracking

2. Advanced Deliverability Settings

  • Always send first email as text-only

    • Removes HTML and tracking pixels from all Step 1 emails

    • Result: No open tracking for first emails across all campaigns

  • Disable Open Tracking

    • Global setting that turns off tracking across all campaigns

    • Result: No open tracking for all campaign emails

To track opens:

  1. Find these two settings

  2. Disable both if you need open tracking

  3. Save changes


How to Check Leads Who Opened Your Emails

You can easily identify engaged prospects who opened but haven't replied yet.

Steps to filter:

  1. Go to the Campaign - Leads tab

  2. Click the 'Filter' button

  3. Select 'Email opened, No reply' status

  4. View your filtered results


How to Check Open Activities

From Activity Tab

This section provides a comprehensive view of the leads' activities, including which steps were opened.

  • Open the target campaign

  • Navigate to the Analytics tab

  • Scroll down to the Activity section

  • Create a filter to check Email Opened activities

From Leads Section

You can check open activity for a specific lead here:

  • Open the target campaign

  • Go to the Leads tab

  • Click the target lead

  • In the pop-up window, go to Activities section

  • Check the Opened logs
